KIRKLAND — Elizabeth J. Evans, age 93, longtime resident of the Jefferson area, died Monday evening at the Golden Living Center in Kirtland, Ohio, where she was a resident.
She was born Oct. 20, 1921, in New Lyme Township, Ohio, the daughter of Hugh E. and Clara L. (Dreyer) Warner. She was a 1939 graduate of New Lyme Deming High School and was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in World War II.
Mrs. Evans owned and operated her own beauty shop for several years, retiring in 1972.
She was a member of the Rome Presbyterian Church; a long-time 4-H advisor; and a Hospice volunteer. She enjoyed bowling, golf and gardening.
She is survived by 13 nieces and nephews and numerous great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bruce in 1978; and six siblings, Thelma and Edith Warner, Ruth Stokes, Homer, Lee and Hugh Warner Jr.
A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held 12 p.m., Saturday, at the Jefferson Home of FLEMING & BILLMAN FUNERAL DIRECTORS AND CREMATORY, INC., 49 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson, Ohio, who is honored to serve the Elizabeth Evans family. Burial will be in Rome Center Cemetery.
