William L. Barden, age 77, of Mentor passed away August 4 at Hospice House in Cleveland.
He was born June 11, 1938 in Ottumwa, Iowa.
Mr. Barden was an aerial photography pilot. He met his wife Sarah while he was serving as a Naval Aviator in the U.S. Navy in Pensacola, Florida. They married in March of 1962 and were stationed in Florida, Washington State and Guam before settling in Mentor in 1972.
Bill and Sarah enjoyed feeding wild birds and in 1994 their passion for nature led them to own and operate the Backyard Feeding Station in Kirtland. Bill and Sarah also rescued and cared for many neighborhood cats by providing them with food and shelter.
Survivors are his daughters, Tonda (Kirk) Moore and Romy (Craig Lewis) Barden; his granddaughter, Krystal (Mike) Martin; grandsons, Blake and Dana Moore; great grandchildren, Ebin, Peyton and Kaylee and his sister, Patricia (Gene Bonds) Ward and Pam (Ray) Collins. He is also survived by many other family members.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah A. Barden; sister, Bev Hardy; brother in law, Jim Ward and his parents, William and Wanda Barden.
Private family services will be held with inurnment taking place at Mentor Cemetery.
