OBITUARY
Mattie Chivens was born Jan. 16, 1849, at West La Fayette, O. and departed this life Aug. 30, 1930, making her 81 years, 7 months and 14 days old. Being the last of 11 Children. At the age of 16, she with her parents moved to Missouri, settling near Mirabile.
In 1871 she united in marriage to Geo. Fort. To this union six children were born, five daughters, and one son who died in infancy. The remaining children Mrs. Miona C. Baird, of Lewistown, Mont., Mrs. Bessie Shaw, Coffee Creek, Mont., Mrs. Grace Headlee, Denton, Mont., Mrs. Fannie and Emma Ellenberger, Polo, Mo. All were with her in her last illness.
Her husband departed this life July 22, 1926, age 88 years.
When a young girl she united with the Methodist Protestant church, later uniting with the South Methodist church of Polo, where she spent her remaining years.
