Marion was the son of David Allen and Harriet Goodrich Allen. He was raised at Bolivar, New York where his father was an oil producer. After his father’s death in 1908, the family relocated to Wirt, New York and then to Richburg, New York. Marion was employed by United States Signal Corp when he enlisted for service in the United States Army. He served two years, one of those years overseas, during World War I. Marion married to Mary Yancey on 27 December 1919 at Mecklenburg County, Virginia. They made their home at Delhi where Marion was involved in the oil and gas business. He enjoyed golf and was active in his community. He was a member of Delaware County Chapter of the Good Roads Association and Delhi Kiwanis Club. After his wife’s death, he relocated to Florida. Marion and Mary had three children; Marion Sawyer Allen, Junior, Frances Shirley Allen, and Otelia H. Allen.
