Harold “Gordon” McAdams, 72, a resident of Thomasville, passed away in Forsyth Medical Center August 27, 2015.

Gordon was born June 14, 1943 in Thomasville to James Woodrow and Jean Nichols McAdams.

He was a graduate of Thomasville High School, the class of 1961, and served in the U.S. Air Force. Gordon served one tour of duty in Vietnam. On April 18, 1964, he married Dixie Chipman. He was a longtime member of the Fair Grove Lion’s Club, where he served in numerous positions, and served as the District Governor from 2008-2009 and. Gordon served on the Board for the Fairgrove Family Resource Center, he volunteered as a cart driver at Thomasville Medical Center and a member of Connection Link. He enjoyed going to the Hi-Toms games, was a Duke Basketball fan, and loved golf. After his retirement, he enjoyed traveling the U.S. and abroad with his wife. Gordon was an active member of Fair Grove United Methodist Church, and served numerous offices.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife, Dixie Chipman McAdams on February 27, 2011.

Gordon is survived by one son, Kevin McAdams and wife Ginger of Thomasville, two sisters, Betty McAdams of High Point and Jane McAdams Greene and husband John of Goldsboro; one granddaughter, Jessica McAdams Baldwin and husband Derrick; and one great-grandchild due in January. Funeral Services will be conducted in Fair Grove United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Allan Van Meter officiating, on Monday, August 31, 2015 at 4 PM. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
