Obituary
Joseph Edward Boughan, Jr. passed away on Thursday, August 27, 2015. He was a native of Essex County, VA and a resident of the Hampton Roads area for over 64 years. He was a retired captain of the Newport News Fire Department with 38 years of service, and a charter member of Deer Park Baptist Church.
Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Letha Boughan, sister Polly B. Delano, daughter-in-law Theresa D. Boughan, and granddaughter Gina M. Hall.
Joseph is survived by his wife, Angie B. Boughan; son, Joseph E. Boughan III, daughter, JoAnn B. Oden and husband George ("Chico"), 5 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 pm on Monday, August 31, 2015 at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home. A celebration of Joseph's life will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, September 1, at Deer Park Baptist Church, 826 J. Clyde Morris Blvd, Newport News. Interment will follow at Peninsula Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Deer Park Baptist Church.
