Her second husband, James Louis Hodges, b.1831 in Kentucky, d.1895 St.Francis Co., Ark., pictured here with Permelia on this site, passed away in late summer or early fall, 1895. (It is believed he was buried in Casteel or Yocona Cemetery.) She then married George McCormick, her third husband. The first husband, Hamilton Miller Prince, b.1827 in Caldwell, Ky., died in the Siege of Vicksburg during the Civil War. It is believed that he and James Hodges served together in the Confederate States Army. He had lost both legs in the Civil War, per Aunt Mildred (Hodges) Mullikin, while fighting for the Confederacy, and died June 29,1863 in the siege for Vicksburg, Ms. After he died, she married James Louis Hodges. She had 2 children by Mr.Prince, Laura L. (Prince) Wheat b.6-16-1857 Vicksburg, Ms. d.1937 Little Rock, Ark. and Celia J.(Prince)South b.4-19-1860 Vicksburg, Ms. d.10-20-1917 Madison, Ark. Celia died tragically in an accident. In a grocery store, a man jumped off the counter top , and a pistol fell from his belt, firing on impact, and killing her with a shot to the heart, according to her Grandson Herb South. Permelia had four children with James Hodges:Samuel Lee Hodges b.12-15-1870 Raggio, Ark. d.1-10-1937 Forrest City, Ark.;William Hodges b.1868 Raggio, Ark. d.abt 1947 in Little Rock, Ark.;Florence Hodges b.1873 Raggio, Ark. d.aft 1880;Louis Hodges b.1876 Arkansas d.Unk. He was lost after moving to Texas. Had three children:Essie Mae/Katherine/and Naomi who married Raleigh Roebuck.
