Ernest was born in Monticello, NM on October 25, 1928, to Candido and Virginia (Cavazos) Trujillo. Ernest and his family moved from Monicello to Garfield, NM and finally settling in Lemitar, NM.
Over the years, Ernest has worked in the mines, been a police officer and was the Fire Marshall and Fire Chief of Socorro. Ernest went to work for the US Fish & Wildlife Department where he worked for many years before retiring. Ernest was a member of the Old Car Club in Socorro, enjoyed fishing and playing bingo. Ernest's passion was playing softball which he loved to play every chance he got.
Ernest was a devoted family man and loved spending time with them.
Ernest will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Ernest was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Rose Trujillo, daughter, Rachel I. Trujillo, his parents, brothers, Candido Trujillo Jr. and Herman Trujillo and sisters, Flora Chávez and Stella Brasher.
Ernest is survived by daughter, Roberta Padilla y Trujillo, sons, Carlos Trujillo and his wife, Carleen and Jerid Trujillo, brother, Gregorio Trujillo, sister, Criza Romero and her husband, Roman, grandchildren, Twila Trujillo, Michael Trujillo, Alex Trujillo, Tycee Abeita, J. Steven Padilla, II, Melanie Padilla, Mary Martin and Zackary Martin, great-grandchildren, Carlos Trujillo, Xia Romero, Marquise Montaño, Gavin Abeita, Naryssa Abeita, Anthony Abeita, Jerid C. Trujillo and Mark Maldonado III.
The Holy Rosary to be recited on Thursday, August 27, 2015, at 7:00 p.m. at San Miguel Catholic Church, 403 El Camino Real, Socorro. Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated on Friday, August 28, 2015 at 9:00 a.m. at San Miguel Catholic Church, Celebrant will be Father Andrew Pavlak. Burial will take place at Lemitar Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Zackary Martin, Anthony Abeita, Jonathan Abeita, John Armijo Jr., Frank Chávez Jr. and Eric Romero. Honorary pallbearers are Michael Trujillo, Alex Trujillo, Carlos Trujillo, Marquise Montaño, Gavin Abeita, Jerid C. Trujillo, Mark Maldonado III and J. Steven Padilla II. A reception will be held at the Eagles Club, 1111 N. California St., Socorro immediately following the burial.
