On Tuesday, November 20th, the death angel called to rest from his labor, Mr. Joseph M. Balderson, age 81. He was a veteran of the Civil War, having answered to the first call to the Confederate colors in 1861, and followed it through the four years of strife returning to his home after Lee surrendered at Appomattox, and has followed his occupation as a farmer until death released him from his toils. He had been in declining health for about two years and for four months had been a comparative invalid. He will be greatly missed by the community as he was a kind and considerate neighbor, and a conscientious christian. He leaves a widow and one son to mourn his loss, but our loss is his gain, he was quietly laid to rest in Rappahannock Cemetery. Rev. T.M.L. Reamy conducted the funeral services.
