Funeral services for Mr. David L. "Gizz" Pool, age 61, of Bastrop will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, August 11, 2005 at Cox Funeral Home, Bastrop with Rev. Bobby Porter officiating. Interment will be at the Kilbourne Cemetery under the direction of Cox Funeral Home. Visitation with the family will be Wednesday evening from 5 p.m. till 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Pool was born October 29, 1943 in Oak Grove and passed away Wednesday August 3, 2005 on Lanai Island in Hawaii. Mr. Pool is preceded in death by his parents, Abe and Eula Shrock Pool and sister, Iva Dell Robinson.
David "Gizz" Pool was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He loved to travel and he enjoyed dirt track car races, classic automobiles, and he was a member of the Chevrolet Classic Car Club. Mr. Pool had also recently retired from International Paper Company after 38 years of service.
Mr. Pool is survived by his children, David Pool, Jr. of Bastrop, and Angie Paul and husband Lester Paul of Bastrop; three grandchildren, Brittany Thompson of Monticello, Arkansas, Brian Smith and Derrick Smith both of Bastrop; brother, John Pool of Shreveport; and a special friend, Pauline Chunn of Bastrop.
Pallbearers will be Lester Paul, Brian Smith, Kevin Stephens, Duffy Allen, Danny Deblieux, Delbert "Hawkeye" Freeman, Jerry Yelverton, and J.C. "Gopher" Dove.
