Birvetta Louanne McCoury, 55, of Valdese, went home to be with Jesus on Monday August 24, 2015 at Burke Hospice and Palliative Care Center following a period of declining health.

Mrs. McCoury was born on September 27, 1959 in Crawford County, Ohio to the late Tommy McCoury and the late Birvetta Christian Nichols and husband Larry.

She was a self employed cosmetologist, and worked many years at Canteen Vending. She was a member of United Baptist Church.

Survivors include her son, James Woody of Valdese; her step-son, Dustin Stamey; her brothers, Tom Ray McCoury and wife Brenda of Connelly Springs; Jim McCoury and wife Christine of Greenville, NC; Larry Nichols and wife Tammy of Rutherford College; one sister, Leslie Nichols and fiancé James Fowler of Valdese; her nieces, Susan Shambley, Ashley Carpenter, and Crystal McCoy; her nephews, Brandon Carpenter, Braden McCoury, Christopher Derrick, Levi Nichols, Calvin Nichols, and Christian Nichols. Also surviving are numerous friends and other family members.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday August 29, 2015 at United Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the United Baptist Church Cemetery.
