A native of Watauga County, Mr. Barrier was a son of the late Henry and Mary Turnmire Barrier, and the husband of the late Rhoda Holtsclaw Barrier. Other than his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Paul Barrier; a grandson, Christopher Scott Barrier; four brothers, Ike, Webb, Clarence and Oliver; and three sisters, Mae, Gertrude and Louisa.
Mr. Barrier was retired from Bernhardt Plant 7 and was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII. He was a member of Bethany Baptist Church and attended Word of Truth Ministries.
He is survived by three daughters, three sons, one sister, 14 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at Bethany Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery
