Estella was the oldest of four children born to Sylvanus H. and Sarah A. (Norris) Bennett. She married John Saar Jr. in 1890 and they were the parents of eight children: Jesse Lee, Bernice Irene, Rilla Sear, Ruby Pearl, Sara Marie, John Bennett, John Hollis and Marguerite.
