In the January 1, 1925, Census for Ottumwa, Wapello County, Iowa, Mary stated that her parents were George and Versena (VanCamp) Hedrick. Her mother's maiden name has been transcribed as VanCump in ancestry.com. In looking at the actual record, the writing is sloppy, and it appears it was transcribed incorrectly.

Mary married John H. Anderson on September 21, 1876, in Knoxville, Iowa. His middle initial is shown incorrectly as "A" in her obituary, which I have transcribed below.
