He was born in Franklin County, Ga., Sept. 6, 1916, a son of James Benjamin Hill and Lila Hill and was a resident of Thomasville most of his life.
He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran and was of the Baptist faith. He was a former employee of Brookdale Carving and had retired from Thomasville Furniture Industries.
On July 22, 1941, he was married to Miss Elsie Craver who survives of the home. Also surviving is a daughter, Ms. Peggy Jane Hill of Thomasville; sons, James E. Hill of High Point and Jerry Don Hill of Archdale; sisters, Mrs. Jack (Ruby) Davis of Canon, Ga., Mrs. Charles (Willene) Savage of Columbia, S.C., Mrs. Tommy (Jimmie Lou) Black and Mrs. Jimmy (Daneze) Brinkley, both of Thomasville; brothers, Bill Hill and Jack Hill, both of Thomasville; two step-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.
Graveside service will be conducted 4 p.m. today in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery.
