John Ernest Beckner, 82, passed away August 21, 2015 in Belton, Texas.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, 2:00 p.m., August 25, at Cole Funeral Home Chapel in Moody, with Dr. Randy Hughes officiating. Burial will follow in Moody Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Monday, from 6 to 8 p.m., August 24, at Cole Funeral Home, Moody Chapel in Moody, Texas.
John Ernest Beckner was born October 24, 1932 to John Thomas and Estelle (Dowell) Beckner in Moody, Texas. He spent two years in the US Army. One of his favorite things to do was fishing, but most of all he loved spending time with his family and friends.
John worked for the Texas highway department and in construction for a few years but mainly worked as a farmer his whole life.
He is preceded by his parents; his wife, Polly and brother, Kenneth Ray.
Survivors include his beloved Mary and her children, Harold, Curtis, Shane and Robin; his daughter, Tommie Jean Allen and husband Kirk; grandchildren, Kelly, Teresa and Robert; brothers, James Beckner and family, Raymond Beckner and family; 6 great grandchildren and a host of other nieces, nephews and extended family.
The family would like to thank Texas Home Health Hospice, especially Nicole and Lory, for their love and care of John in his last days. Also the family thanks, Dr. Shakespeare with the Pulmonary Team at Baylor Scott and White in Temple and Dr. Sewel of Baylor Scott and White in Belton.
