Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Thursday, August 20, 2015, Mr. Garrett Wilson “Garry” Alton, 84, husband of 58 years to Mrs. Maria Mitchell Alton.

Mr. Alton was a native of Chicago, IL. He was a member of St. Paul Episcopal Church. Mr. Alton was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. He served in the Air Force during the Korean War. Mr. Alton worked for many years as a trainer for stock traders at Meryl Lynch in New York City. After moving to August in 1980, he was the Program Director for the small business development center at Augusta College. Mr. Alton was a volunteer at University Hospital before being hired to work the information desk.

Family members in addition to his wife include daughter: Betsy Alton; son: Garrett Alton; grandchildren: Jake Alton, Lillie Alton, Erik Alton and Sumter Alton; sister: Eleanor Sulston; brother-in-law: David Mitchell and niece: Regan Mitchell.

A cryptside service was held Saturday, August 22, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. in the mausoleum at Westover Memorial Park with Fr. John Jenkins officiating.
