Peter Erick, a blacksmith, married Elizabeth Byers on 16 May 1822 in Strabane, PA. They named their children: David, James C., infant, Enos W. and Lucinda M. Erick.

His (Peter Erick) wife's sister (Catharina Byers) married his brother (Leonard Erick).

A census in 1840 shows them in Jackson, Wayne Co., Ohio. Then from 1850 to 1870 they are shown living in Huntington Co., Indiana.

They are buried in the dormant Wesley Chapel Cemetery, church and school which was donated in the early 1840's by Peter Erick.

A small log building was erected in 1843 for a school which was taught by William Allen. This was the first school building built in Jackson Township. Wesley Chapel, the first house of worship built in the township was also erected of logs. It was replaced about ten years later with a frame building. Peter Erick's funeral service was the first one conducted in the new chapel.
