Jeanne Scott, 91 year old former Vinita resident, passed away Tuesday, August 18, 2015. Jeanne was born 12 of 13 children at Bird Springs in Okfuskee County, Oklahoma on June 29, 1924 to George and Emily (Douglass) Ellig.
On November 28, 1944 she was united in marriage to Ernest Harold Scott and together raised three daughters. Jeanne was very crafty and enjoyed quilting, crocheting, and was a great seamstress. She also enjoyed gardening and growing beautiful flowers. She was a member of the Adair Christian Church.
Survivors include her daughters: Teri Young and husband Alan of Sand Springs, Amy Claborn and husband Rick of Vinita, grandchildren: Darin Herndon, Scott Young, Christi Johnson, Erica Fletcher, Ryan Claborn, and Jillian Claborn.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Ernest Scott, daughter Jennifer Clements, granddaughter Missy Husted, and siblings: Klara Ross, Robert Ellig, Odie White, Carl Ellig, Henry Ellig, Susan Ellig, Nellie Smith, Bus Ellig, Peg Ellig, Sis Frye, Vic Ellig, and Dewayne Ellig.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m., Friday, August 21, 2015 at the Hillcrest Cemetery in Weleetka, Oklahoma with Minister Hershel Martin officiating.
