Thelma Sue Farmer Elder, 85, of Athens, passed away Wednesday morning, Aug. 19, 2015, at her residence.
She was born in Cleveland and was a longtime resident of Sevier County and Athens.
A daughter of the late Huse and Betty Boling Farmer, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Elaine Knirr; a son, Kim Elder; daughter-in-law, Delora Elder; a brother, Dewey Farmer; a sister, Mae Messer; and former husband, Robert "Bob" Elder Jr.
She was a realtor for more than 50 years and served many years with the Pilot Club. She loved ballroom dancing and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Robert F. and Christine Elder of Athens; son-in-law, Kenneth Knirr of Athens; four grandchildren, Jonathan R. Knirr, Steffanie Elder, Jennifer Elder, and Emily Elder Smith; sister, Connie Humphreys of Decatur; and sister-in-law, Wanda Farmer of Cleveland.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Ziegler Funeral Home with the Rev. Jimmy Lewis officiating.
Burial will follow in Bethsadia Cemetery.
Family and friends will be serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from noon until 2 p.m. on Friday at Ziegler Funeral Home.
