Marvin H. “Chris” Adler, 88, of Custar, Ohio and recently of Bowling Green, Ohio, passed away, Saturday August 15, 2015 peacefully after a brief illness. Mr. Adler was born at home to the late Henry Christopher and Julia (Junk) Adler. He proudly served his country in the US Navy during WWII. He married Alma F. Lindquist April 24, 1948 in the St. Louis Catholic Church and she survives in Bowling Green, Ohio. He was a lifelong resident of Wood County and worked many years at the former American Lincoln and the Lorraine Oil Companies in Bowling Green, farming for Harold Bordner, and later retiring in 1988 after twenty years of service to BGSU's Refrigeration/Air Conditioning Department. Surviving are their six children: Judy (Joe) Weaver, McClure; Sherry (Ron) Wallace-Solether, Tontagany; Steven (Wendy) Adler, Weston; Jan Emch, Bowling Green; Cathy (Rodney) Kirian, Tontogany; and Brian (Stephanie Voorhees) Adler of Easton, PA. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and two sisters: Marian Sloyer, Gladwin, Michigan & Lela Schwanzl of Florida. He was preceded by his parents, and two brothers, Jim & Henry Jr.; & grandson Anthony Adler. Mr. Adler, along with his wife, Alma, enjoyed “wintering” for 13 years in McAllen, Texas. He was a member of the American Legion Post #305 and the St. Louis Catholic Church both in Custar. He enjoyed camping, reading, bowling, playing penny slots in the casinos, and searching for arrowheads. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family, playing softball in the backyard, and making his famous homemade ice cream. Visitation will be Monday, August 17, 2015 from 3:00 PM - 8:00 PM in the DECK-HANNEMAN FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, 1460 West Wooster Street, PO Box 648, Bowling Green, Ohio 43402. Funeral Services with Military Honors will be held on Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at 10:30 AM in the DECK-HANNEMAN FUNERAL HOME REMEMBRANCE CHAPEL with Private Burial in the St. Louis Cemetery followed by a luncheon in the Remembrance Banquet Hall. Memorial contributions may be gifted in Mr. Adler's honor to Bridge Hospice
