Edward Swanson, 82, retired farmer died at his home on 24 South Vernon street of Princeton, Saturday, Dec. 8, at 8:10 p.m. after a long illness which was caused by a stroke in 1922. About a year ago his health started to fail him and it was but a short while after that that he lost the use of his limbs, which is believed to have been caused by the stroke. Mr. Swanson was born in Sweden on Sept. 20, 1856, and came to this country in April 1880, coming direct to Princeton and settling on a farm in Princeton township where he and his family lived until 15 years ago when he moved to Princeton. He was married just before sailing for the United States to Miss Caroline Johnson in Sweden and to the family eight children were born, of which two died in their infancy and six are still living, four in Princeton and two in Monmouth.

Mr. Swanson will be buried from the Swedish Mission church of Princeton, of which he had been a member for more than 48 years with the Rev. Fritz Hjelm, pastor of the church, in charge of services. Interment will be at the Oakland cemetery of Princeton.

He left to mourn his death, his wife, Caroline Swanson, Henry Swanson, Princeton; William Swanson, Smithsport, Pa.; Mrs. M. P. Anderson, DeKalb Ill.; Mrs. John Johnson, Rockford, Ill.; and Mrs. Carl Ohlzen of Chicago, brothers and sister, besides Charles R Swanson, Frank A Swanson, Mrs. Arthur Rolander, Miss Esther L Swanson of Princeton, and Mrs. Joe Arling and Oscar A Swanson, of Monmouth, Ill., sons and daughters.
