He was 52. He was the former publisher of the Arizona Record newspaper. He died suddenly in Whitehall, Montana,where he was the county superintendent of schools. A native of Oklahoma, he lived in Arizona for 37 years. He graduated from Globe High School, and earned his Masters Degree from Arizona State University. He also attended the University of Arizona. He earned the Purple Heart in World War II, was commander of a Veterans of Foreign Wars Post at Whitehall. He was governor-elect of the district for the Rotary Club, a member of the Chamber of Commerce, and a past president of the Magic Land Council at Whitehall. He was also a member of the White Mountain Masonic Lodge 3 in Globe. He was survived by his sons, Michael and John Gregory, and Donny Colvin; sister, Mrs. Flossie Wilson of Globe, another sister and two brothers.
