Son of Joseph Fincher and Lucinda Elliott. His 1st wife who he married 1853 was Sarah Elizabeth Elliott who died 14 months after the birth of their son Hilliard Marion Fincher. He then married Isabella Pass in 1858 and they had a son Melvin Cicero Fincher. They adopted a young girl who was an orphan Ida Morgan-(Ida Fincher)-Sept 1877.

He served in the Confederate Army- 65th Georgia Infantry- Smith's Legion.
On 31 Dec 1862 he was captured at Big Creek Gap, Tennessee. (Must have first got captured here and then he was taken through Danville as part of the processing possibly.)
He was captured in Danville, Kentucky 2 Jan 1863. He went to Louisville and then on to Vicksburg, Mississippi. He was sent to Vicksburg via the ship Cairo on 5 Jan 1863.
He then appears on the roll of Confederate Prisoners at Camp Douglas (Chicago, Illinois). He was then paroled 30 Mar 1863 and then sent to City Point, Virginia and then located at the General Hospital in Petersburg, Va. He was at this point furloughed for 30 days. When in the hospital it shows in there for Rheumatoid Arthritis.

He married a 3rd time to Sarah Emma "Emma" Holcomb -28 Aug 1906 in Floyd County. He remained married to her until her death. She died and is buried in Walker County, Georgia. Her grave is not showing up in the Fairview Cemetery in Lafayette, Georgia.
