Alan Weston Goodmanson, son of Lewis M. Goodmanson and Bertha Nee Ehlers, Paullina was born October 4, 1925 at Paullina, Iowa. He attended grade and high school in the Paullina school system and was a member of the Presbyterian church.

In 1939 he had the misfortune of being hit by a stray bullet and lost the sight of his left eye. Due to his handicapped situation he was unable to serve in the armed forces. It was then that he entered the Chicago Northwestern service system, as a telegrapher, dispatcher and agent. This continued to be his his li[vely]hood the past 19 years. He had served with the railroad at the towns of Paullina, Alton, Hawarden, Butterfield, Minnesota, and Mason City, la., where he died on Sunday morning May 6, 1962, at the age of 36 years, 7 months and 2 days.

He leaves to mourn his passing his parents, one brother, Murl of Offutt Air Force Base, Omaha, one sister Myrna, (Mrs. Clarence Roth) of Easton, Pennsylvania. One brother Vernon lost his life in the service in Baston, Belgium in 1945.

Alan Goodmanson, 36, Dies at Mason City;
Services Here Today


Funeral services will be held here today, Thursday, for Alan W. Goodmanson, who died Sunday evening at about 9:00 o'clock at the Y.M.C.A. in Mason City. Mr. Goodmanson was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Goodmanson of Paullina. He was employed in Mason City by the Chicago and Northwestern Railway Company.

Funeral Services will be held this afternoon at 2:00 at the First Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Sherman Tidball will be in charge of the service, directed by Gaudian Funeral Service.

Interment will be in Prairie View cemetery.

The deceased is a graduate of Paullina High School. He has been in the employ of the C & NW railway for the past 16 years as a telegrapher and clerk. He is survived by his parents, a sister, Mrs. Clarence Roth, and a brother, Lt. Col. Murel Goodmanson at Offut Air Base, Omaha, Nebr.

A brother, Vernon, lost his life in World War II.
