HUSBAND AND WIFE BURIED IN ONE LARGE GRAVE
Last week Quiz readers were greatly shocked when they saw the report that both Mr. and Mrs. Fred Gass had died from the flu. It was recalled that they left but a few days before for Raymond, Washington, where Fred was to work in the government ship yards. They were taken sick soon after arriving there and went to the hospital where Mrs. Gass died first. Before they went to the hospital they stayed at the home of Mrs. Gass's brother, Joe Drozda.
Fred Leon Gass was born May 14 [sic], 1886, at Ord, Nebraska, and died at Raymond, Washington, October 17, 1918; aged 32 years, 5 months and 13 days.
Mr. Gass had lived in Ord, Neb., nearly all of his life, except a few years that he lived in different towns. He was married July 2, 1910 to Miss Josephine Drozda. He leaves three brothers; Arthur and Clayton of University Place, Neb., and Raymond of our city, and one sister; Mrs. Laura Wilcox, also of Ord.
Josephine Emaline Drozda was born at Prague, Nebraska, December 10, 1889, and died at Raymond, Washington, October 13, 1918; aged 28 years 10 months and 3 days.
Ten years ago she moved to Ord, Nebraska with her parents.
She leaves to mourn her loss her parents; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Drozda, four sisters; Mary, Christina, Frances and Agnes of Ord, Nebr., and two brothers; Charles of David City, Neb., and Joe of Raymond, Washington.
The funeral services of Mr. and Mrs. Gass were held in the cemetery, Rev. E. E. Hosman, pastor of the Methodist church officiating, and were very largely attended.
