Clara May Thurston, 81, Retired Registered Nurse
Miss Clara May Thurston, 81, of 43 Admiral Kalbfus Road, a retired registered nurse, died last night in a local nursing home. She had been ill several weeks.
Born in Portsmouth, Miss Thurston was a daughter of Peleg and Sarah Lawton Thurston. She was a graduate of the Rhode Island Hospital School of Nursing and a member of its alumnae association. She practices nursing in New York City many years ago, and before her retirement was a nurse at the Wallum Lake sanitarium.
Surviving are a brother, Howard T. Thurston, and a sister, Mrs. Bertha Cummings, both of Portsmouth, and several nieces and nephews in Newport and Portsmouth.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday by the Rev. Edward Price, rector of St. Mary's Church in Portsmouth. Burial will be in the Union Cemetery there.
