Elaine H. Ackerman, 85, of Beatrice, died August 14, 2015. She was born March 1, 1930 on a farm near Jansen, was baptized March 23, 1930 and confirmed in June of 1943 at Peace Lutheran Church near Plymouth. She attended District #75 through the eighth grade and graduated from Plymouth High School in May 1947.
After graduating, she worked at Dempster Mill Manufacturing of Beatrice.
On August 14, 1949, she married Ed Ackerman at Peace Lutheran Church near Plymouth. She worked at the Daily Sun and later helped her husband at Beatrice Motor Mart. She has been a member of St. John Lutheran Church of Beatrice since 1949 and helped with the newsletter of the church, food pantry, past member of the Tabitha Circle, member of WELCA and member of the Monday morning blanket sewing group. She loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed baking cookies and rolls for them and also loved to sew. She also enjoyed going to the Senior Center and playing cards and was a member of the Red Hats.
Survivors include two daughters, Vicki Brolhorst and husband Dennis of Beatrice and Laura Bahr-Frew and husband James of rural Martell; one son, Mark Ackerman and wife Janice of Lincoln; daughter-in-law, Denise Ackerman of Lincoln; twelve grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Louis Paul of Beatrice; two sisters, Elda Guthrie of Santa Fe, NM and Margaret Morrow and husband Kenneth of Beatrice; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Conrad and Emma Fangmeyer Paul; her husband Edwin, who died January 7, 2012; her son Randy, who died October 21, 2011, son-in-law, Terry Bahr; three brothers, Otto, Harry and Elmer Paul; four sisters, Edna Kroeger, Laverna Kokes, Mathilda Schroeder and Ida Paul.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at 10:30 A.M. at St. John Lutheran Church of Beatrice with Pastor Greg Gabriel officiating.
Burial will be at the Evergreen Home Cemetery of Beatrice. A family prayer service will be held at 10:15 A.M. Tuesday in the chapel of the church. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established to St. John Lutheran Church and Beatrice Community Hospital Hospice Program with Willard and ValGean Wiese in charge. The body will lie in state at the Fox Funeral Home from 12:00 noon Sunday until 9:00 P.M. Monday and then one hour preceding the service at the church on Tuesday.
