Obituary. In writing an obituary of one so young and so promising as Winfred C. Arnold, words cannot express the great loss to his relatives and friends occasioned by his departure from things temporal to life eternal. Just in the flush of young, energetic, ambitious manhood, with bright business prospects before him, and longings to make a place for himself in the business world, his early demise is especially sad. Mr. Arnold was a young man of high ideals, manly, courageous, possessing the highest integrity and moral worth. Although afflicted with that fatal destroyer, consumption, and knowing the inevitable end, he made a brave fight to regain his health and wanted to live. That his wish, could not be fulfilled seems pitiful. He was born in Clinton, Mo., February 7, 1877. He died September 2. 1905, aged 28 years, 6 months and 26 days. He lost his mother with the same disease 17 years ago, since which time until entering a business career, he made his home with his Grandmother Arnold on East Franklin street, who idolized him. He graduated from the Clinton high school in the class of 1894. He was married to Miss Zelma M. Wood of this city, Nov. 1, 1903, at the home of Mrs. Laura Jennings, who reared his wife. In 1903 he joined the Clinton Baptist church and died the death of a Christian. He leaves a wife, father, sister and many relatives to mourn his loss. ' The funeral services were held at the home of his uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs Frank Hall, on East Franklin street, where he passed his last days and where death came to release him from his suffering. The funeral sermon, owing to the unavoidable accident to his pastor, Rev. Truex, who baptized and married him, was preached by Rev. Neff of the M. E. church, who told of the beautiful character and life of the deceased, and his strong faith in his great Redeemer. Appropriate music was rendered by the choir, and loving friends covered his coffin with beautiful floral tributes of sympathy and love. The large concourse of friends followed the remains to Englewood where he was laid in his last resting place. Thus another bright, young life has passed out, but its good deeds will live forever in the memory of his friends. Those present from a distance to attend the funeral were Roy J . Wood and niece, Little Zella Hemole, and Mrs. Olive J. Barcafer of Kansas City, Mrs. Will Roberts of Lamar, Mo., Walter Meyers and wife of Calhoun and George Arnold of Kansas City.
