Ripple Agnes Hubbard Guess passed into eternity on Monday, March 13, 2006. She was born in Austin, Texas, on August 22, 1913, to Arthur Belding Hubbard and Selma Agnes Fruth Hubbard. She graduated with honors from Austin High School at age 13 and was one of the youngest students ever to enroll in The University of Texas. While there, she was a member of the Women's Athletic Association and was a champion player for the Longhorn Women's Tennis Team. She received her B. A. Degree in 1932, at age 18.

During her senior year at The University, she began to renew a friendship from Jr. High School with a young engineering student, B. L. Guess, Jr., and they were married in Austin in December, 1935. The young couple moved to Luling, Texas, for a short while before coming to Corpus Christi in 1936.

In 1947, Ripple and B. L. opened B. L. Guess Lighting Company, where she was active until B. L.'s death in 1996. She loved rocks and gardening, especially with cactus plants; and when not at work, she could be found in her yard, where she received numerous "Yard of the Month" awards. Even their vacations were spent searching throughout the western United States for new species of cacti and rocks to add to her collection.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her three brothers and her sister.
She is survived by her son, B. L. "Chip" Guess, III (Sue); her grandson, and her great granddaughter, all of Corpus Christi, Texas as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Wednesday, March 15, 2006, at Seaside Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, March 16, 2006, at Seaside Funeral Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
