Bertha E. Cooper, 93, formerly of Benton Harbor, passed away Wednesday, October 2, 2002 at Lakeland Continuing Care Center-St. Joseph, where she resided.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:30 A.M. Saturday, at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, with Rev. Philip Quardokus officiating. Burial will follow at North Shore Memory Gardens, Coloma. Friends may call at the funeral home beginning at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday. Memorials may be made to Hospice at Home or Lakeland Continuing Care Center-St. Joseph. Friends wishing to share a memory or sign the guestbook on line may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com.

Mrs. Cooper was born on April 11, 1909 in Elkhart, Indiana to Arthur & Maud (Baker) Bixler. Bertha worked as a home health care provider for many years in the twin city area. She enjoyed gardening and most recently had volunteered at Lakeland Continuing Care Center in St. Joseph. Mrs. Cooper is survived by three sons-Albert Cooper of Elkhart, IN; Fred (Donna) Cooper of St. Joseph; Don (Mary) Cooper of Coloma; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband-Albert in October 1987, her daughter-Betty Gremore in November 1975, her son Charles Cooper in October 1997 & by 11 brothers & sisters.
