He was a native of Cleveland County, son of Rastus B. and Ella Blanch Blalock Dixon. He was also preceded by sisters Emma Dixon, Annie McDaniel, Mamie Bell, Magie Lail and Mary Howell.
Walter was a retired painting contractor.
He was a member of First Baptist Church.
Burial: Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery, Kings Mountain
