Adeline Amanda Warner was born in Camillus, NY on June 29, 1819. She was the daughter of Joel Warner and Clarissa Foster. In 1836 they moved west to Kendall County, IL, being some of the earliest settlers there. She was the first school teacher in Oswego in either 1836 or 1837. In 1843, she married James Charles Monroe. They had four children and had a farm in Ottawa, IL. James passed away in about 1855. She met Samuel Head while he was supposedly a farm hand on their farm in Ottawa. She married Samuel in 1857. They had 3 children, Alice Lillian who married Samuel Head; Albert John, born 1860 married Marin Quint and Edward William born 1862 who married Anna Hinah. Adeline died 11 Nov 1869 in Dayton Township, IL and is buried with her first husband, James Monroe in the Ottawa Avenue Cemetery.

"Adeline Warner, sister of Mrs. George Parker (Clarissa Charlote Warner), was the first teacher. It was the first frame in Oswego, and is now a part of Albert Snook's residence. It was made for a store, but school was held in it. " History of Kendall County, p. 188.

"Adeline Warner was said to have been the first school teacher. The first school was held in 1836 or 1837, in a log building that had been built by French missionaries who came down out of Canada to minister to the Indians.
