Raised with his five siblings in St. Joseph, Missouri, and graduated there from Lafayette High School where he ran track and played violin in the school orchestra; pre-deceased by his wife of 72 years, Thelma Ethel Dowell, and son Paul, to whom he devoted 42 years after Paul's injury in an accident; also survived by one sister, three sons, one daughter, four grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren; U.S. Army retired, served in WWII and in the Korean Conflict; retired after 25 years of military service; then served 39 years as finance officer for the VA Administration; after retirement, Stuart volunteered his professional expertise to assist individuals prepare their income tax returns; charter member, Westover Hills Presbyterian Church, Scout Master 1956-1965.
