Olive Ardell Claudson
Jan. 3, 1910 — Feb. 4, 2005

Olive was called home to be with her Lord and Savior in a very peaceful way, in the arms of her husband.

Olive was born in Grants Pass, the daughter of Claudius and Loa Adell (Rice) Robinson. She was raised in Wilderville and graduated from Grants Pass High School. She graduated from Normal School in Ashland and then taught two years in Holland and Graves Creek.

After marrying Dick Claudson, the couple moved to Lakeview. They built their own home, where they lived for 67 years. They owned and operated Dick's Market in South Lakeview from 1946 to 1959, along with owning several rentals.

The Claudsons enjoyed traveling on their Harley Davidson motorcycle and in their own airplane.

In Jan. 1955, they traveled to Detroit to pick up their new DeSoto, before traveling around the United States. In July 1966, they spent six months touring the world. In 1998, the couple moved to Alterra Villas in Albany to be near their daughter, Marlene.

Olive is survived by her husband of 71 ½ years, Dick; daughter Twila and her husband, Clain Randolph, of Porterville, Calif.; son Allan and his wife, Edytha Claudson, of La Grande; daughter Marlene and her husband, Galen Chandler, of Albany; six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. Olive was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Roscoe and Beverley Robinson.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Alterra Villas, 1560 Davidson St. S.E. A concluding graveside service will follow at Palestine Cemetery. Grandson Mark Claudson will officiate at both services.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Riverside Baptist Church, in care of Fisher Funeral Home, 306 Washington S.W., Albany, 97321.
