Burial followed in the Reilly Springs Cemetery with Dwayne Tallant, Jeff Wells, Michael Wells, Marcus Wells, David White, James Frazier and Dennis White serving as pallbearers.
Honorary pallbearers were W. G. White, Bennie Cegelski, Jenita Cegelski and Helen Harrell.
Visitation was held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, August 15, 2003, at Tapp Funeral Home.
Mr. White died at 6:39 p.m., Wednesday, August 13, 2003, at Hopkins County Memorial Hospital.
Jessie Gilbert "Gib" White was born February 3, 1914, in the Arbala Community, the son of John Walton and Minnie Lou Hendricks White.
He married Merele Odessa Frazier on March 4, 1939 in Sulphur Springs, Texas. She survives.
"Gib" White was employed in 1950 by Dow Chemical Co. in Freeport, Texas, serving there for over twenty years as a control operator. He returned to Hopkins County after retiring in 1970. He enjoyed many years with his favorite hobbies, truck farming and birdhouse building. He often traveled to Dallas Farmers Market with abundant produce and bird houses to sell. "Gib" White was a member of the Union Baptist Church.
"Gib" White is survived by son, Gilbert Keith White & wife, Dorothy Mae, of Brazoria; daughter, Anna Catherine Tallant of Sulphur Springs; grandchildren, Elaine Wells & husband, Jeff, Dwayne Tallant & wife, Tina, David White & wife, Toni, Cindy Reeves & husband, Larry, and Dennis White & wife, Terri; great-grandchildren, Marcus Wells, Michael Wells, both of Sulphur Springs, Katelyn Tallant, Brendan Tallant, both of Winona, Kristin Reeves of West Columbia and D.J. White of Brazoria; and numerous nephews.
"Gib" White was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Henry Hale John Franklin, William Goebel, Walter Thomas, Robert Lee and Edward Reed White; and sisters, Ethel Douglas White and Mary Elizabeth Birchfield.
Funeral arrangements were by Tapp Funeral Home in Sulphur Springs, Texas.
