Frances Louise Couch

Frances Louise (Brett) Couch, 94, formerly a resident of both Birmingham & Dothan, AL passed away Saturday, August 8, 2015 at 6:53 p.m. in Augusta, GA at University Hospital, surrounded by members of her family who love and admire her dearly.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 15, 2015 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend John McCullough, Niel Blackwell, and Dr. Robert Lehn officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 10-11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Flowers may be sent or memorial contributions can be made to Turning Point Ministries, Dr. David Jeremiah, P.O. Box 3838, San Diego, CA, 92163.

Mrs. Couch was born in Hollins, AL on June 15, 1921, to Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Edward Brett. Frances lived the early part of her life in Sylacauga and later graduated from Sylacauga High School before moving to Birmingham, AL, where she met and married her husband Alvin “Al” Lawrence Couch in 1939. Frances and Al resided in Savannah, GA for 16 years, giving birth to three children who were brought up as active members of Bull Street Baptist Church. Prior to moving to Dothan in 1996, she resided in Birmingham, AL for 42 years. Here, she and her family were active members of Dawson Memorial Baptist Church and the First Baptist Church of Birmingham. While in Dothan, Frances was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. For the last five years of her long, love-filled and God-filled life, Frances Couch resided with her granddaughter, Katherine and grandson-in-law, Dr. Christopher Anna in Augusta, GA under the care of her daughter Carolyn and granddaughter Katherine.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Mr. Alvin Lawrence Couch.

Survivors include her brother, Willard “Bill” Brett (Peggy); son Mark T. Couch (Marianne) of Jacksonville, FL; daughters, Carolyn Blackwell (Niel) of Augusta, GA and Kathy McCullough (Rev. John) of Daleville, AL; her 7 grandchildren, Katherine (Christopher), Matthew (Beth), Ashley, Michael, Lindsey (Kyle), Katie (Chris), and Ryan; 7 great-grandchildren, Bryson, Megan, Jacob, William, Madison, Bayden, and Ryleigh; many nieces and nephews.

Robert Byrd of Sunset Funeral Home, (334) 983-6604, is in charge of arrangements.
