Dorothy Born, 97, of Columbus, Nebraska, died Monday, August 10, 2015, at the Golden Living Center in Fullerton, Nebraska.
The funeral service will be Friday, August 14, 2:00 P.M. at St. Luke’s United Church of Christ with Rev. Chris McArdle officiating. Interment will be in the Columbus Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday from 1:00 – 2:00 P.M. at the church. Memorials may be directed to the church.
Dorothy was born September 21, 1917, in rural Nance County, Nebraska, to Samuel and Laura (Poole) Kurth. She graduated from District 10 School in 1933. After school, she was hired out to help as a farm wife. On September 4, 1935, Dorothy was united in marriage to John Born in Council Bluffs, Iowa. They farmed between Duncan and Columbus before they moved into Columbus in 1950. Dorothy went to work at a laundromat in Columbus before going to work Dales in 1957. Dorothy worked there for over 25 years before her retirement. She was a very organized and neat woman.
