Re: Burial site of Mary Rogers Johnston. I took this bit of info from a transcipt of the Larkin Chew Johnston Bible "My wife Mary Johnston departed this life 10/25/1800...was bur. by her bro. John Rogers, Jr. at his place on Hico on Tuesday after she died, being kept out of the ground for 4 days according to her request. We lived together upward of 55 years in which time she brought me ten children and 8 of which is alive now - 1802."

"Hico" is in Person County, North Carolina right next to Granville County. Larkin Chew Johnston referred to "her bros. place on Hico." He was referring to the Hyco River. The headwaters of the Hyco River are in Caswell County and flows northeast through Person County then into Halifax County, Virginia. The upper portion of the river was dammed in the sixties to create Hyco Lake. It put 3800 acres under water. If John Rogers Jr's land was located downstream from the dam then maybe her grave can be found. But there is the chance that the land is now under water.

It is believed that the Cemetery where Mary Rogers Johnston was buried has been located. It's called Rogers-Robertson Family Cemetery. It's located 1.7 miles north of Woodsdale, Person County, North Carolina and is located on the Hyco River which Larkin Chew Johnston referred to in the Bible.
