Bobby E. Akers, 85, of Ottawa, went home to be with the Lord Mon., Aug. 10, 2015, at Boone Memorial Hospital.

Born Aug. 9, 1930, at Jeffrey, W.Va., he was a son of the late Elliott and Carrie Pearl Akers. In addition to his parents, was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 47 years, Lucy Mae Gilliam Akers, whom was the love of his life; one sister, Madeline Akers, and four brothers, Bill, Silas, Paul and Lewis Akers.

Bobby was the proud owner of Akers Hardware in Ottawa for 23 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family especially on holidays, wood work and visiting with his friends. Bobby was an animal lover especially when it came to cats. He was a wonderful man who will be missed by many.

Those left to cherish his wonderful memory include one son, Alan Dale Akers and daughter-in-law, Regina (who he loved like a daughter) of Chapmanville; two granddaughters who were his pride and joy, Kristin Leann Mullins and husband, Roy of Camp Creek, W.Va., and Courtney Nicole Akers (whom he called Corny Cole) of Chapmanville and her fiancé, Matthew Jarrell of Bandytown; three great-grandchildren, Makayla Marie Mullins of Camp Creek, Jonathan Ray Ferrell II and Logan Alan Jayce Akers, both of Chapmanville; one sister-in-law, Bethel Gilliam of Ottawa; two special nieces, Marsha Akers and Brenda Ball, both of Jeffrey; special friends, Larry and Debbie Green, and Karen and Stanley Dolan, all of Ottawa, and Terry Spencer of Hewett; and a host of nephews, nieces, and friends that will miss him dearly.
Graveside services will be held at noon Fri., Aug. 14, at Boone Memorial Park Cemetery at Madison, W.Va., with Rev. Roger McCauley officiating.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.

Freeman Funeral Home at Chapmanville, W.Va., is in charge of arrangements.
