Dixie and Ray enjoyed 68 years of marriage as a couple so much in love with each other as to be the envy of all who knew them. You could not speak of one without speaking of the other, so intertwined they were.
She was preceded in death by brothers Glen and John, and daughter, Jacqueline Rae.
Dixie was born in Arnold, Neb., in 1919, and moved to Red Lodge in 1935, where she graduated from high school in 1937. On May 30, 1937, she married her forever sweetheart, Ray Homer of Bear Creek.
In 1938, they moved to Trident, just outside of Three Forks, where they resided until 1950, when Ray joined the Milwaukee railroad. They lived in several locations along the electrified portion of the railroad until 1958, when they settled in Two Dot.
She became the postmaster of the small Two Dot post office. Upon her retirement, Dixie and Ray moved to Billings in 1992.
Memorial services for Dixie will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 26, at the Ocee Johnson Chapel at St. John's Lutheran Home. Interment will be at 3:30 p.m. at Sunset Hills Cemetery in Bozeman. The arrangements are in the care of Dahl Funeral & Cremation Service.
