RACHAEL P. MANGES, 103, died Monday, Aug. 10, 2015, at Coventry Meadows, Fort Wayne.

Born Aug. 23, 1911, in Montgomery County, Ind., she was a daughter of the late George "Earl" and Rose (Maguire) Peterson.

She married Cline L. Manges on Dec. 29, 1934, in Lodoga, Ind.; he died on Dec. 24, 1972. Rachael was a homemaker. She had been a member of First Church of Christ, in Garrett, Ind. and an associate member of Trinity English Lutheran Church, Fort Wayne.


Rachael is survived by three daughters, Bertha Royer of Willard, Ohio, Gwyneth Kandel of Butler, Ind. and Nell (Dana) Failor of Fort Wayne; three sons, Harry A. (Barbara) Manges and Michael L. (Carol) Manges, both of Fort Wayne, and Hans P. (Kay) Manges of Bluffton, Ind.; 19 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren and a sister, Phyllis Miller of Ligonier, Ind.


She was preceded in death by her parents, George "Earl" and Rose Peterson; husband, Cline L. Manges; three sons-in-law, George Kandel, Donald Royer and Kenneth Grobis; one grandson; two brothers; and two sisters.


Funeral service is 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 13, 2015, at Thomas Funeral Home, 1277 C.R. 56, Garrett, Ind., with visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. The Rev. Dr. Daniel W. Fugate officiating. Burial will follow service in Christian Union Cemetery, Garrett, Ind.
