Sarah C Clare was born to Abraham Bale and Clarissa Elmore Bale. She married Patrick Henry Rush in 1868 in St. Louis. According to census records there were three children, but only one, John Henry Rush, was surviving in 1910. She married in 1897 and divorced before 1900 Hugo McKee in Jacksonville. She subsequently lived for many years in Jacksonville and worked as a seamstress. In 1930's she married Nathan H. Clare from Pike County. According to her death certificate her home was in Nebo, IL but she died in the Norbury Sanatorium in Jacksonville. She was buried in Burbridge Cemetery on 3 Jan 1935. Nathan Clare administered her estate.
