James Richard Lyman, Sr., 76, of Braymer, Missouri, formerly of Iowa Falls, passed away Tuesday, March 20, 2007, at Carrollton Community Hospital, Carrollton, Missouri. Funeral services for James Lyman, Sr. will be 10:30 Saturday at Bethany Lutheran Church, Iowa Falls, with Reverend Brian King officiating. Burial will be at Friends Cemetery, Iowa Falls. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 pm Friday evening at the Linn's Funeral Home, Iowa Falls.
James Richard Lyman was born February 26, 1931, the son of Frank and Bessie [Stuart] Lyman. He attended Owasa grade schools and graduated Eldora High School with the class of 1951. On August 26, 1951 he was united in marriage to Betty Kay Furrow. To this union four children were born: Rick, Cindy, Randy, and Rob. The couple later divorced. James was a manager for Hiway Lumber which later became Payless Cashways of Iowa Falls. He was a former longtime member of the Pine Lake Saddle Club. He loved to hunt, fish, ride mules and horses. He was an avid coon hunter.
James Lyman, Sr. is survived by a special friend: Lenna Campbell of Braymer, Missouri; his children: Rick [Kathy] Lyman of Iowa Falls, Cindy [Ron] Ellingson of Wellsburg, Iowa, Randy [Edna} Lyman of Iowa Falls; Rob [Robin] Lyman of Iowa Falls; eight grandchildren: Kyle [Kelli] Lyman of Ackley, Iowa, Casey [Laura] Lyman of Iowa Falls, Trent [Lynn] Lyman of Iowa Falls, Ryan Ellingson of Wellsburg, Iowa, Josh Lyman of Iowa Falls, Jessica, Brandy, and Kalli Lyman of Iowa Falls; one step grandchild: Chad Ellingson of Eldora, Iowa; six great grandchildren: Syndey and Kayla Lyman of Ackley, Iowa, Lily and Wyatt Ellingson of Phoenix, Arizona, Cheyenne and Braxtin Lyman of Iowa Falls, Iowa; and one step great grandchild: Lane Ellingson of Eldora, Iowa; one sister: Phyllis [Larry] Riekena of Iowa Falls; two brothers: Everett [Edna] Lyman of New Providence, Frank Lyman of Lake City, South Carolina; and two sisters-in-law: Margaret Lyman of Gifford, Iowa, and Shirley Lyman of Wilton Junction, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Frank and Bessie Lyman; five sisters: Pearl (infant) Lyman, Iva Mae Winter, Eva Starn, Peggy Waldo, Opal Hornung; three brothers: Billy (age 7) Lyman, Evan Lyman, and Jerry Lyman; and Molly his Mule
