Wife of James Lynch and mother of 5 children. Daughter of Abner Hughes and Mary Ann Coats Hughes.

Sarah Elvira Wheeler was the youngest child of Abner and Mary Hughes. She was born February 23, 1863; died at Mountain Grove, Mo., February 7, 1932, making her age at time of death 68 years, 11 months, 14 days.

Sarah E. Hughes was first married to James D. Lynch September 18, 1883, and they made their home near Nagle, Texas county. To this union five children were born: Oscar (deceased); Virgil E. Lynch, of Ashland, Maine; Mellie Elmore, Houston, Mo.; Myrtle Spencer (deceased); and Floyd Lynch, Mountain Grove, Mo. James D. Lynch passed away November 4, 1894.

She was again united in marriage to E.H. Wheeler November 15, 1917, who preceded her in death some nine years ago, since which time she has made her home with her children, being in poor health; an invalid for the past three years.

She was converted at 16 years of age and joined old Union Baptist church. In later years she removed her membership to Houston Baptist church, of which she was a member at time of death.

She leaves to mourn her passing, three children; one sister, Mrs. Vindetta Osbourne, Bendavis, Mo.; one brother, Asbery Hughes, of near Springfield, Mo.; five grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. She was a devoted Christian worker, a loving mother, and a kind, friendly neighbor.

Funeral services by Rev. H.B. Tillery at Ozark Baptist Church; burial at Ozark cemetery Tuesday, February 9.
