Clifford was born in Stigler, Oklahoma on January 25, 1915 to Mary Elizabeth (Straub) and Rube Fowler. Clifford married Ruby Bryant on November 5, 1932 and together they raised their daughters in Shafter. Clifford worked 34 years for Belridge Oil as an engine mechanic retiring in 1978. Cliff liked being a city farmer he grew as many vegetables as the backyard would hold and loved being out watering. He loved going to Oklahoma on vacation and a reunion every summer, the last time was when he was 90 and proud he was the driver. He passed away on July 31, 2015 with his family by his side. He was 100 years 6 months and 6 days. He had a long life and was aware of his surrounding until his last day.
Clifford is preceded in death by his wife of 80 years Ruby; his parents Rube and Mary Elizabeth; his 8 brothers and sisters; daughter Frieda Fowler Brown and grandson Michael W. Spencer. He leaves behind his daughters Toni Spencer and husband Max, Shirley Couch and husband Robert; his pride and joy 3 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren and 5 great great-grandchildren.
He will be missed by all who knew him. A Graveside Service was held at Shafter Memorial Park on Tuesday August 4, 2015 at 10am preceded by viewing on Monday August 3 from 6-8pm at Peters Funeral Home Chapel in Shafter, CA. We would like to give a special thanks to Optimal Hospice for their care and kindness. To Marissa, Chris and to Dean’s Care Villa and all the wonderful people that cared for Clifford.
