Sweetwater - Funeral for Mrs. Callie Mae Bardwell, 77, longtime Nolan County resident, was held Tuesday at 10 a.m. in Cate-Spencer Chapel. The Rev. Preston Barrett, pastor of First Christian Church, officiated and burial was in Sweetwater Cemetery.
Mrs. Bardwell died Monday in Simmons Memorial Hospital after a week's illness.
Born May 13, 1884 in Arkansas, she came to Sweetwater in 1897 from Oklahoma with her father. She married Ed Bardwell here in 1908. Her husband died in 1938. She lived at 308 Lamar St.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. E. H. Harkins of Sweetwater; one brother, Charles T. Shields of Nogales, Ariz.; and two half-sisters, Mrs. Lela Willis and Mrs. Ruby Taylor of Superior, Ark.
