Barbara married William A. Pohanka on June 29, 1962 who survives her; three children, David (Shelley) Pohanka, Susan (Jim) Sundstrom, and Lorie (Thomas) Foltz; eight grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Megan, Paul, Erick, Dan, Lauren, Lyza and Nathan; sister, Katherine (Ernest) Dettmann.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Barbara graduated from Creston High School in Grand Rapids and Jackson Community College with an Associate degree. She retired from Spring Arbor Township.
Barbara was a member Redeemer Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday school for many years. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, quilting, bowling, singing in the choir at Redeemer Lutheran Church, playing a hammer dulcimer in Uncle Carl's Dulcimer Club, and a lifelong Detroit Tiger and Lion fan.
A celebration of her life was held at Redeemer Lutheran Church Thursday, August 13, with Reverend Michael Geml officiating. Interment Spring Arbor Cemetery.
