YORK William R. "Bill" Almoney, Sr., 87, entered into rest on Friday, August 7, 2015, at Lancaster General Hospital. He was the husband of Pauline "Polly" Almoney for 21 1/2 years. The couple had a wonderful life together, traveling and meeting new people from all over the United States and Canada. Bill was born in York County, on February 29, 1928, and was one of 10 children of the late Wilbur R. and Mamie (Ehrhart) Almoney. He was an equipment operator for County Line Quarry. Bill also had his own construction business and worked for numerous construction companies over the years. He was a member of Druck Valley United Methodist Church and a life member of Steam-O-Rama. He enjoyed working with his buddies making scrapple and apple butter. Bill loved showing his Farmall Cub at tractor shows. He was the state champ with his pulling tractor, "Giddy-Up-Go." He was an avid NASCAR fan with Bill Elliot being his favorite driver. In addition to his wife, Polly, he is survived by a son, William R. Almoney, Jr. and his wife, DonnaVee of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; two grandsons, Kevin Almoney of York, and Bret Almoney and his wife, Jen of New York, and their son, David; four stepchildren, Michael Bunn and his wife, Lynn, John Bunn and his wife, Ann, Chris Klinedinst and her companion, Cindy, and children, Cooper and Dakota, and Ed Klinedinst; two brothers, Harry and Jack Almoney of York; and numerous nieces and nephews. Following cremation a Celebration of Bill's Life will be held on Thursday, August 13, 2015, at 4:30 p.m. at Samuel S. Lewis State Park in the Hilltop Pavilion, 6000 Mt. Pisgah Road, York 17406, with Pastor John Allen, Sr. officiating. In the case of inclement weather the service will be moved to Susquehanna Grace Community Church, 6694 Sunrise Ave., York 17406, off of Cool Creek Road near Eastern High School. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Steam-O-Rama, P.O. Box 652, Red Lion, PA 17356; or to Druck Valley United Methodist Church, 4457 Druck Valley Road, York, PA 17406. Arrangements by the Etzweiler Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, 1111 E.
