Jewel was a homemaker and a member of East Columbus United Methodist Church.
She was a former volunteer and member of the auxiliary at Columbus Regional Hospital and for over 20 years enjoyed babysitting.
Born in Marmaduke, Arkansas, April 16, 1916, Mrs. Lucas was the daughter of Charles Edward and Inza Viola Apple Asbury.
She married Verlis R. Smith March 31, 1933. He preceded her in death, October 24, 1952.
She later married Waltza M. Lucas June 2, 1957. He preceded her in death, April 22, 1994.
Survivors include her children, Lee (Kim) Smith, Lois "Penny" (Gene) Hogan and Jerry L. Lucas all of Columbus; 10 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; son, Kenneth Ray Smith; brother, Marion Asbury and sisters, Mable McDowell, Hazel Tomey and Ruth Perkins.
